Subsequently, the scale's test-retest reliability was determined using a pilot group of 42 hockey players. The scale's final validation involved 770 adolescent ice hockey players, with an average age of 14.78 years and a standard deviation of 1.60 years. The exploratory factor analysis (EFA) of perceived ice hockey competence indicated six dimensions, with seven items being discarded. CFA (confirmatory factor analysis) suggested the 6-factor first-order model as the best-fitting model for the concept of perceived competence in ice hockey, with a CFI of 0.938 and an RMSEA of 0.044.
